I've always felt that life is a lot like driving. Some people really love the freedom of getting into the car and driving until they find themselves in the middle of a new adventure. Others, like to drive a 5 mile radius of their home, arriving at their appointed destination safely and then returning home as quickly as possible. I believe that I am a combination of both types; but admittedly, when I'm on any form of adventure that requires that I drive in unknown territory, I can get a little antsy. Have you ever been traveling on an unfamiliar road to a new destination and all of a sudden your GPS loses satellite connection? Or maybe you're driving in a foreign country and your doing all you can to navigate the aggressive drivers and treacherous road conditions; it can be a bit disconcerting, especially, when you really have no clue how to get where you are going. Or maybe, the navigation voice on the GPS continues to direct you to the next exit, as you swear you are supposed to go straight.
Our lives, just like our travels, can be frustrating - even dicey at times. Whether we encounter small bumps in the road that inconvenience or delay our plans, or we find ourselves stopped dead in our tracks by the unexpected large boulders of life; we must find a way to calm our frayed nerves, put ourselves back in drive, and wait for the directions to become clear. But you, like me, may sometimes think, what if I miss my destination, or what if I find myself going in the wrong direction, or what if I make a mistake and take the wrong exit?
As human beings we are filled with questions that, we feel, deserve immediate attention. It can also be difficult for us to admit that we don't always know the best way to proceed. But, if we want to fulfill our destiny and purpose in this life and hopefully reach our eternal reward in the next, we would be wise to follow this one small piece of advice: Turn our whole selves toward the One who will perfectly guide our path. God is ready, willing, and absolutely able to be our GPS in "all things" that concern our daily lives until He calls us home. The great news is that even if we've gone down the wrong road a number of times, or have been too proud to ask Him for directions before, there is a way back right now. As soon as we admit and repent of our short-sighted mistakes and blatant bad decisions, something miraculous occurs: The Lord speaks softly to our hearts and we are free to make an immediate u-turn and follow His will. He loves you more than you could ever imagine. Remember, this action step is not a sign of failure or an indication of any lacking mental capacity; it is a sign of humility, obedience and faith.
So when you are not sure what to do, and you need miraculous intervention that will clear the path ahead, take a moment and pray the following prayer. It's called The Miracle Prayer and it works over and over again: I can testify to that!
Lord Jesus, I come before Thee, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Thy name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give Thee my entire self. Lord Jesus, I accept Thee as my Lord God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit.
Come Lord Jesus, cover me with Thy Precious Blood, and fill me with Thy Holy Spirit, I love Thee Lord Jesus, I praise Thee Lord Jesus, I thank Thee Lord Jesus, I shall follow Thee every day of my life. Amen.
Mary, My Mother, Queen of Peace, all the Angels and Saints, please help me. Amen.
